The database record format for databases containing BLOBs was changed in 12.1.6.0.30. Any database from version 12.1.6.0.21 or earlier that contains BLOBs must be upgraded before it can be opened by this or any later version of Berkeley DB. Databases from version 12.1.6.0.30 or later that contain BLOBs and databases without BLOBs do not require upgrading.
